Circus Tricks is an unincorporated association created by Luna Trick, established from 2018. Originally the brand began like most small businesses in Australia, as a sole tradership with big dreams on a small budget. We managed to survive the pandemic and proceeding lockdowns by the skin of our teeth, emerging in a post Covid world with a new business structure to bring circus back to our communities.

Our focus is to take circus arts into the sport and recreational sector, allowing the public to support this movement practice with membership opportunities.
Our vision moving forward is to focus on cultural engagement, social vitality and education of the diverse circus exercises available to Australians.

the following statement from our Public Officer, Luna; describes her reason for investing her life into Circus Arts.

“I wasn’t a sporty kid, failing the beep test and struggled to climb on the monkey bars.
In high school I dropped PE as soon possible for arts and humanities subjects. I never dreamed of being an International circus star, it just happened by circumstance.

I took my gap year traveling throughout America and bought my first hula hoop at age 19 in San Francisco. It was a travel hoop; heavy and large perfect for a total beginner.
I met hula hoop enthusiasts in Golden Gate Park that showed me their favorite skills, and directed me to Youtube for free lessons.

When I arrived home in Australia, in 2011 I was torn between my new obsession of hooping, and starting university. I ultimately dropped out to my parents dismay, to pursue my new passion for a plastic toy. It took years before I was skilled enough to start performing or working as a circus coach, and had to overcome the obstacle of having zero formal dance or gymnastics training growing up.

The hoop was my portal into the mystical world of circus, that catalyzed me into a journey of self discovery through movement. I don’t diet, or go to gyms, but I am fitter than my 16 year old self and I have circus to thank for that. As a kid, I believed that I wasn’t able to do cartwheels, handstands or splits so that was my reality. Now I am a fire breathing acrobat with contortion skills learnt studying Yoga in Rishikesh, India.

I want to have my own kids one day, but not until I take on the physical education industry that favors gladiator sports while excluding dance, physical theatre and circus from their programs.
Circus creates neural connections stimulating the mind while moving the body. I want to teach the whole world how to juggle, I feel we need it now more than ever. When I practice, I enter a flow-state that works as a meditation; clearing my mind while moving my body towards health.
I want to share that bliss I feel, inside the centrifugal force of a spinning hoop with you, and the children in your life. The world is a circus; you can choose to be the magician, ringmaster or clown. Its okay to make noise and be silly, we are here to have fun. Enjoy the show!
